What is The Showdown?

 

Put simply, The Showdown is a multi-disciplinary performance competition where the contestants bring their best at what they do to win the votes of the audience. To the winner: Cold Hard Cash Money. ...and a crown.

Throughout the season, we focus each Showdown on a specific kind of performance - from Standup Comedy to Music to Burlesque to Drag and more. Each show is filled with memories in the making, exceptional talent, and the thrill of democracy.

This all culminates with the All-Star Showdown, which brings back champions and finalists from throughout the year in a no-holds barred clash featuring some of the fiercest competition you're likely to see on stage in Victoria.

Originally founded by local improvisor and magician Dave Morris (Paper Street Theatre), the Showdown has grown through several incarnations, hosts and producers - including Kirsten Van Ritzen, Rod Peter Jr., Keith Williams, Paul McKinnon, and now, Paul Shortt.
